I’ve been a software professional for, what, 15 years now? And somehow, until now I’ve never really had a website. I mean, don’t get me wrong I know how websites work. I’ve always been able to build and deploy a website to production. I spent a decade at Amazon, and much of that in AWS- surely I can host a basic static blog website, right?

But I never quite got around to it.

Thankfully, Shopify laid me off a week ago so now I finally have time!

(Seriously though, I have nothing bad to say about Shopify. Good company. Very few assholes. Working on things that are objectively good for the world.)

I’m making the most of my ‘time off’ this summer. Mornings are spent with my daughter, Dot. Afternoons are spent working on four projects:

  1. Get a job.
  2. Learn a lot more about LLMs, and make some personal projects with them.
  3. Build and operate a personal website (if you’re reading this, it’s GOING WELL).
  4. Look into building my own side project, side hustle, dare I even say ‘startup’? (nay, such words are too aggressive!)

I’ll post some updates here. I’ll also post random thoughts and musings. Probably mostly the latter.
